Answer :

First check to see that it has adequat water but good drainage. Poor drinage will cause root rot. Excessive salt in the soil or wind damage can cause the outer leaves to turn brown. I suggest you search -growing rhododendrons. They are a popular plant and there is a lot of information on them.
