Answer :

Once the flowers fall off the stems go ahead and cut the stems back to ground level. They are herbaceous perennials so the base of the plant will all die back and come back next year.  Did anyone warn you they are a vigorus reseeder?  Cutting the stems off as soon as the flowers are gone will help curb this.
