Answer :

It's also called firethorn.  Trimming spring or fall will produce less flowers.  It will get out of hand so pruning yearly night be needed.  Use long handled cutters as this bush has long thorns that will scratch you.  I would also wear a long sleeved old coat and have the trash can ready to just drop them in. Some links say that they are poisonous and another says no..........one says they produce a lot of gas.  They say that the thorns can produce a rash.......
