Most zoos have their own hospitals equipped to treat any type of animal. The smaller animals are brought to the hospital for treatment. Giraffes are so large that any type of medical equipment needed is brought to their enclosure where they are treated. In the wild, if giraffes are found to need medical attention or vaccintions, they are tranquilized, worked on quickly and given an antidote. For serious injuries, they may be transported to a hospital.
