Would my Chinchilla like a playmate?

I have a chinchilla and I'm thinking about getting a second to keep him company when I'm at work. Is this a good idea?

Answer :

In the wild chinchillas live in groups, so they do enjoy company. But they are very territorial, so if you want to introduce a playmate, do so gradually. First keep them in separate cages but next to each other. They will then communicate with each other and become used to having the other  around. Give them time and eventually they should be able to live together and be happy as friends.
