I haven’t seen that specific product – I have seen grinders used on dog nails. They look and act like dremmal tools. I don’t use them because they take so much longer than just clipping the nails. (Although they do leave a nice smooth finish rather than sharp edges.)

Last Answer : Expect the shedding but you can reduce it significantly. There’s a brush/comb called “Furminator” that canine specialists highly recommend. It removes the undercoat and loose hair.

Last Answer : I don't think it makes a difference although it might take a while for the dog to get used to the new name. Think of the fact that most rescue dogs come to shelters without any name at all ... choose something that is similar in sound to what their name was so there is not a steep learning curve.
