answer:There’s never going to be an ‘opportune’ moment to have a child; as long as its created out of love, the right moment will be whenever it comes. Now as for other life plans, what worked in my case (and my wife’s) was to get education finished, become gainfully employed, and to settle into a mortgage on a first home. We then got a couple of years of ‘practice’ by having a pet dog (from puppy to present), and tried (to a reasonable extent) to do a bit of traveling (alas, that is the part that was fleshed out the least). Just make sure you and your partner’s life goals are intact and respected, and that you have a main and a backup plan for sustaining your lifestyle and direction in all aspects of work, career, etc., and that these ideals are mutually agreed to. Lastly, stay out late, and get as much sleep as you can. This from a happy husband and <yawns-exhausted!> father of two :) (p.s. I’m 34 years old).
