Just ask. Ask her(?) to tell you what she(?) is doing and why. Ask how you can replicate it. And don’t think you can ever make your hair look as good as a stylist will. You can’t see the back of your head and cannot reproduce the angles a stylist is working from I can get my hair to look pretty damn good, but never as good.
