Answer :

Adium does it. Apple could do it. But sometimes MSN and others change things around so the other clients that use the network break. I’m not sure if Apple would want to open themselves up to the complaining that would ensue when iChat stops working because Microsoft changed something. They seem to have a deal with AIM so I doubt AOL is going to break AIM without talking to Apple first.

In the official AIM client, sign in on your old screen name and there is a command Export Buddy List ... what I suggest you do.
