There really is no reason to keep Microsoft Office installed especially since it was a trial version (if I remember correctly) and you won’t ever use it. I can’t remember off the top of my head how to change the default program that opens files in Windows, as I am on my Mac, but it can be done, and I’m sure someone will tell you how.
