I was in a play over the weekend after president Kennedy was shot. We were doing a comedy! We took the attitude that the show must go on because it is a dedication to the audience. They came to the theater to enjoy the show, so the show had to be there. On another level, I think “the show must go on” is different from “you must go on.” You can take time for yourself and the show can still go on. You need to avoid the show or participate in the show whatever works for you. But, for the troupe and the theater, yes, the show must go on.
