answer:I haven’t been in a hotel like this, but I have slept on a train that had compartments (with beds) that you shared with other people…some of them strangers. Could they be comfortable? Yes, but for only the most basic of needs: security and a private place to sleep that has personal climate control. The only markets I could foresee this being successful in in the U.S. and probably Canada would be at airports and truck stops. Think of all the people in airports that get stranded and spend the next couple of hours struggling to find a hotel for the night or just sleep in the waiting areas. Many truckers sleep in their cabs at a truck stop and pay a fee to use their shower facilities. As for operating costs, it depends on a lot of factors that can be broken down into fixed and variable costs. If you’ve ever played Monopoly, it’s a lot like that. And if you’d like a top-line lesson on the costs of running a hotel, feel free to send a PM, and I’d be happy to walk you through it.
