answer:Do you have the correct drivers? I have had a few installs go silent when the AC97 codec either disappeared or wasn’t installed in the first place. How about the mixer? Poke around and find all of the volume controls ;) There is always the possibility that it thinks there is something in the headphone jack, which will cause the speakers to disconnect. If those don’t work, I will think of a few other things, but try those first.
