Yes, because the contexts are different: making fun of the way ‘those black people speak’ has a different history than does making fun of people (Italian or not) who are unable to speak ‘properly’ or whatever. No, because making fun of either is stupid. Now, to your main question. I don’t watch the show, so I’ll just go on what you write here. I define racism to include personal and structural components so, to me, it wasn’t necessarily racist unless Aaryn assumes all black people do one particular thing as a result of their being black and works specifically, in her life, to prevent them from being equal. Otherwise, she, like many people in this society, is just a prejudiced dumbass.
