Because you are just starting out, you need to have a lower babysitting rate than someone who is very experienced. However, I would not charge a flat rate. You should charge by the hour because it is your time and quality of care that you are being paid for. It would not be fair to receive twenty dollars for babysitting for one hour and then the same amount for five hours.
