While a few dinner drinks won't kill you, recent studies have shown that patients who have gone under the knife for gastric bypass surgery are metabolizing alcohol differently than before their surgery. Enzymes in the brain are reacting faster to their altered state - meaning they get drunk more swifty, with less alcohol - and smaller stomachs equal smaller tolerance in general. In some cases, one drink was enough for DUI levels of intoxication! So if you've had the surgery, feel free to drink in moderation - just know that, for the most part, alcohol and gastric bypass don't mix.
