Computer stores often hire entry-level bench techs for assembly work and minor repairs. An A+ certification is helpful but some small computer stores are willing to hire, train and certify technicians with nothing more than a passion for computers on their resume. After obtaining a few technical certifications and spending six months to a year in an entry-level bench tech position, computer store technicians may be qualified for advanced positions in the IT field.
