Nationalism is a unifying force when the people being united aresimilar in race, culture, religion, language, etc. It brings commonpeople together into a new definition, basically it makes a biggergroup.Nationalism is a dis-unifying force when people who are notsimilar are united under a single nation. Differences keep peopleat distance from eachother and can only be overcome by destroyingtheir former institutions and principles which kept them as adistinct and strong people (race, culture, religion, language,etc.) and molding a new one.
