How does the kinetic theory explain how water changes into water vapour?

1 Answer

Answer :

In any body of water the particles are moving around. Some aremoving faster than others. If a particle heads towards the surfacewith sufficient energy, it can break free and move off into thespaces between the air molecules. The warmer it is, the moreparticles will have sufficient energy to do this. Energy isabsorbed by the remaining liquid from the surroundings. In an opencontainer, eventually all the water particles will escape into theair.
