What is dental implantation and how much does it cost?
Prosthetics issues in our country have long been solved with the help of implantation. However, there is a fairly significant number of different implants on the market, and not every person is able to make the right choice. In addition, it is worth noting that many clinics specialize in certain types of implants, and they recommend installing them. How to make the right choice, finding the best value for money. Let's consider the main points.
Implantology has recently emerged as a separate direction in dentistry. The first steps in this direction were made in the sixties of the twentieth century. For the first time, a similar operation to implant a titanium root of a tooth was carried out by a Swedish specialist Professor Ingvar Branemark, but such operations were carried out on a massive scale only in the eighties.
What is an implant?
An implant is an artificial dental root made of titanium and placed in the human jaw in place of the missing tooth. The use of titanium in modern prosthetics is due to the excellent ability of the metal to implant into human bone tissue. The artificial tooth itself consists of three main parts. Directly implant, abutment and crown worn from above. In this case, the abutment is a connecting material that acts as an intermediary between the crown and the implant. A feature of this design is that the implant is placed in place until the end of life, while the abutment and crown can be replaced if necessary. Without a doubt, today this technology is the best solution to the problem of missing your own teeth.
At the moment, there are about two thousand different dental implantation systems in the world. The cost of implants depends on the company and the country of the manufacturer, as well as the technical parameters of the product (its section, surface properties of the material, the existing thread, and so on).
How much will one tooth implantation cost?
As with any other product, the cost of dental implants can vary significantly, and is divided into traditional expensive, moderately available and cheap implants. Implantation of one tooth with the installation of an implant, abutment and crown using expensive materials will cost a person from 50 to 100 thousand rubles. When using materials of average quality, the price is reduced to 30-50 thousand, while a cheap tooth can be implanted for less than 30 thousand. Agree that even this amount is not small.
Do not forget about all kinds of promotions and discounts of dental clinics, which, given the high cost of implantation, can save significant amounts. At the same time, cost should not remain the only assessment factor when choosing a dentist. Professionalism and experience are a prerequisite for a successful dental implantation.
Implant technology
During dental implantation, the patient's pain is minimal. This is due to the fact that there are no nerve endings in the bone tissue, and all the pain is caused by the gum, which must first be cut for implantation of the tooth. As a result, pain relief is no different from conventional caries treatment, and includes localized freezing. At the same time, the use of general anesthesia in some clinics is not excluded. A similar approach is practiced when carrying out particularly difficult, lengthy work or in cases where the patient is very much afraid of the upcoming implantation. In such a situation, both the patient and the doctor will be better off from general anesthesia. In general, a tooth implantation operation takes no more than one hour.
Tooth installation steps
The first step is to cut the gum, after which a hole is formed in the shape of the implant. After that, a plug is inserted, and the gum is sutured. The entire gum healing process takes place over a period of one to three weeks. The engraftment of the implant to the bone tissue takes several months. Only after that, the implantologist makes an additional incision to remove the plug, in place of which a gingiva former is installed, in shape corresponding to the future artificial tooth. It takes another week or two to form the gums. After that, the specialist makes an impression, taking into account the peculiarities of the structure of the jaw and the bite of a person, which will become a model for the future crown. The last step is the placement of the abutment and the anchoring of the crown.
