Almost nothing is known about Jude's life. Early in the ministryof Christ Jesus, Jude may have been among those saying: "He hasgone out of his mind." (Mark 3:21) In any event, Jude and his otherbrothers did not then exercise faith in Christ Jesus. (John7:5)However, after his resurrection, Jesus appeared to his halfbrother James. (1 Corinthians 15:7) Doubtless this had much to dowith convincing not only James but also Jude and his other brothersthat Jesus was indeed the Messiah. Therefore, even before Pentecostof 33 C.E. they were persisting in prayer with the 11 faithfulapostles and others in an upper room at Jerusalem. It appears thatthey were also among the some 120 persons assembled on the occasionthat Matthias was chosen by lot to replace the unfaithful JudasIscariot. (Acts 1:14-26) If this is the case, it would indicatethat they received the holy spirit on the day of Pentecost. (Acts2:1-4)
