First and foremost mutation refers to the change in the structure of the gene.Mutation in plants causes a change in the appearance of flowers, stem and the fruits of the plant. A plant might change but over a period of time it regains its original colour but not all the plants. Mutation results from random change in the cell of a plant, change in climatic conditions or damage by the plant insects. If mutation occurs in a growing plant, the shoot can be affected and will give rise to the whole cell lines. Genetic mutation isn't a problem and can be controlled by pruning the affected area or the whole plant completely. If the plant is allowed to grow, this gene might be transfered to the next generation.
