Describe solubility saturation solubility. Write the effect of temperature on solubility.
Solubility:
Solubility of a solute is the maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved in a given amount of solvent at a specific temperature and pressure.
OR
It is the amount of solute dissolved in a given quantity of solvent to produce a saturated solution at a specific temperature and pressure.
It is expressed as parts by weight of solute per 100 parts by weight of the solvent at a given temperature. Another way to express solubility in in gm/ litre of solution.
Effect of temperature on solubility:
Solubility increases as temperature increases.
