My zipper tore off my other trousers. The neighbor said it was because she was washing in the washing machine. Do pants (jeans) wash in the washing machine?

I can't imagine washing jeans differently than in a washing machine. With a brush? And then at least 3 baths full, for rinsing? 2 - 3 times a month ?! Not at all! :( I think your problem is that you have the buttonhole pulled out a lot and the button doesn't hold the pull of the strap. It is held by a zipper. Actually the first tooth on the zipper or on the slider. Try to sew the hole. so that the button passes in. Or sew, charge the new button a little further.
