How much disk space does the image take up?

I assume that a 2 MB image takes up exactly as much space, but what if I copy it? Is it double? And what if a program (like Picasa) downloads all the pictures from disk? Is it just another "window" through which I look at the image, or will the amount of data increase? I apologize for the stupid question, but where else should I ask than at the counseling center, right? Thanks :)

I'm deleting anything I don't think I need or find very soon. I also deleted pictures and photos to make life easier for Vincent (my pc). And he, a bastard, is bored and pulls and saves unseen things. Addresses, pictures I've never seen. Sometimes I grind into parts I don't know and I'm not surprised at what he cried out about. He is bored! So, with our work on the PC they have no burden and are bored! That's right, I know it! That's how mine is.
