How to Insulate Doors
Insulation provides protection all season long.  It keeps excessive heat from entering your home during summer.  It also bars rain and snow from getting in your property.  For your home to have proper insulation, insulating foam or a weather strip must be installed on your door or ceiling.  Putting the material in is easy, since garage doors have panels.  You just have to insert the sheets through the panels and secure the connection with nails or an adhesive.

Polyurethane Foam
Polyurethane foam is a popular material for insulation, given its ability to absorb extreme temperatures.  Measure your garage door’s dimensions then purchase the foam from a home appliance store.  Cut the foam according to your door’s dimensions.  Once done, use a knife to insert the polyurethane sheet along the panels.  Secure the connection by covering the insulation’s outside edges with electrical tape.

Polystyrene Foam
Polystyrene insulating foam works like polyurethane foam in absorbing temperature and keeping foreign elements away from your property.  It happens to be a good alternative to polyurethane.  To install, you must, first, purchase a sheet of polystyrene foam from a home appliance center.  Cut the sheet according to your door’s dimensions.  Once done, stick it to the door panels using tape or finishing nails.

Weather Strip
The weather strip specializes in sealing your property from atmospheric elements, such as heat waves or cold drafts.  It is also easier to install than polystyrene and polyurethane sheets.  Purchase one, which is as large or larger than your garage door, from the department store.  Make the necessary adjustments to the strip, so it covers the panels completely.  Once done, pull the sheet covering the adhesive side of the strip.  Stick the weather strip to the panels.  If you want to secure the connection even further, stick a second layer of the strip then add tape or finishing nails.

Insulation Kits
Some home appliance centers offer insulation kits which function just as well as any insulation material sold on the market.  It provides total protection and is easy to install.  Just affix the insulation material provided by the kit onto the door using tape and you’re job is done.

Insulating is Easy
Insulating your door is not a problem, with the number of choices on the market, all of them easy to install.  You can do some internet research on which insulation material suits your home the best, to make sure you’re getting a bang for your buck.
