How to Clean Glass Shower Doors
Glass doors add a modern and classy look to your bathroom, but you have to admit that there’s a drawback to having them: cleaning. Ordinary shower curtains don’t get water spots, but glass ones do. When you find yourself faced with these stubborn stains, here are several effective tactics you can try.
The White Vinegar Method
What You’ll Need:
1/2 cup of white vinegar
1/2 cup of water
Spray bottle
Squeegee
Steam
Procedure:
Get the spray bottle and put in the white vinegar and water. Shake well so they will blend together.
Take a shower. If you already have, then just turn on the hot water for at least five minutes, or until steam completely fills up your bathroom and fog the shower glass doors.
Get the water-vinegar mix you made then spray it all over the glass door. Let it sit there for two minutes.
Use a squeegee all over the whole glass door, until all of the water-vinegar is removed. If any water remains, just let it dry.
Stand back and marvel at your beautiful and sparkling shower glass doors.
Using Dishwasher Soap
If the squeegee method doesn’t work on your glass doors, then here’s another option you can try. It’s just as simple and easy as the first one.
What You’ll Need:
Dishwashing soap (gel, liquid or crystals)
Fine grit steel wool
Rubber gloves
A cup of hot water
Procedure:
Get a teaspoon of dishwashing soap and dissolve it in a cup of hot water.
Slip on the rubber gloves, then get the steel wool. Dip it in the soap-hot water mixture. Starting at an upper corner, scrub the glass door. Don’t worry, because this won’t scratch the glass. The steel wool breaks down the grime, while the soap removes hardwater stains and spots. If necessary, replace your steel wood pad with another one.
Rinse the doors with clean water. At this point, they should be sparkling clean.
Lemon And Baking Soda
What You’ll Need:
Lemon
Baking soda
White vinegar
Water
Scouring pad
Procedure:
Get the scouring pad and sprinkle baking soda all over its surface. Apply this to the glass in a circular motion, cutting through the soap scum.
Use water to rinse the scouring pad clean. Rinse the shower door, too.
Spray the glass with white vinegar mixed with water generously (such as that in the first method).
Cut open a lemon and squeeze the juice onto your scouring pad. Apply this the same way as the baking soda, in circular motions.
Rinse the glass door thoroughly. Your door is now sparkling clean, with a lemony-sweet scent.
No one likes foggy and stained shower glass doors in their bathrooms. Tryany of these easy and environmentally-friendly techniques and yours will soon be sparkling clean.
