How to Cast a Fishing Net
Catching live fish has never been as easy, when you’re using a fishing net. The mesh is pretty large, fitting a group of fish, all at once. Such a device comes in handy when you’re looking for a fine seafood meal or if you plan to collect hauls of fish to sell to the market. So, how do you use it?
Untangle and Connect
Fishing nets are large, plus they become heavy when they’re filled with fish. Your net must have a secure connection to your body, otherwise you might end up letting go of your catch. First, untangle your net, so you can maximize its area. Tie its rope around your arm. Make sure its securely connected. Once done, locate a plastic circle on the net then pull it, which in effect, straightens the entire mesh.
Throwing Position
Given the net’s size, proper positioning is required if you are to throw the net to a far distance with pinpoint accuracy. Clutch the plastic circle with one hand then hold the net’s center with the other. Carry the net. Grab a bottom edge, as you place your other hand parallel to it, with some distance, giving you control over the entire net, or at least a large portion. With the net secured, position it by the side of your waist.
Casting the Net
cast netTo catch lots of fish, the net must act like a hand grasping an object. It will fall above a school of fish then clamp down on them as you reeling the net in. You should, first, wait for a large group to swim by. When they’re in place, throw the net forcefully, reaching an area just beyond the group. Use both your hands to adjust the net’s position on the water, if necessary. Tug and gather the rope tied to one of your hands, which closes the bottom of the net, trapping the fish inside. Reel the net in to claim your catch.
Reeling in a Fine Meal
Catching a large number of fish on a consistent basis requires timing and lots of practice. In truth, the task at hand is not easy nor is it quick to learn. However, your efforts will be rewarded by a constant stream of fine seafood cuisines, which makes the entire ordeal worthwhile.
