How to Save the Planet
If you haven’t noticed the gravity of the environmental problems we’re having, you’re either blind or you simply don’t care. Stop for a minute and look around you: the environmental situation we have right now is downright depressing. It’s about time that everyone starts caring for our environment. It’s not yet too late. Whatever little thing you can contribute will be a great help.
Here are some things you can do to help save the planet.
Segregate
Separate biodegradable wastes from non biodegradable.
Non biodegradable wastes are items that can be reused like bottles, cans and plastics.
Biodegradable wastes are those that can decompose like food and animal wastes.
Reduce
Save on Electricity
Turn off unnecessary lights.
Unplug electronic devices that are not in use.
Limit your use of electronic devices. Instead of using an electronic paper shredder, why not tear papers or use a pair of scissors? Wash your dishes in the sink instead of using a dishwasher.
Buy rechargeable batteries.
Conserve Water
save the planet
Repair damaged and leaking pipes immediately. Replace dripping faucets.
Avoid using lawn sprinklers. They waste too much water.
Don’t take long showers.
Prevent Air Pollution
Don’t use your car if you’re not going for a long drive. Apart from the benefits it gives your body, walking also saves fuel and lessens air pollution.
Try carpooling with your friends.
Keep your car in good condition.
Don’t use aerosol sprays.
Save Our Trees and Endangered Animals
Use recycled products.
Avoid buying fur coats.
Wild animals are meant to live in their natural habitats. They’re not pets you can take home.
Reuse
Avoid using disposable products.
If you can’t avoid using plastic bags, try to use them more than once.
Don’t throw away old things. What may be trash for you, may be useful to other people. Give old clothes, books and other things to those who need them. (see how to get rid of old books)
Wash your jars and use them again. Jam bottles can still be used as containers for other things.
Host a garage sale. If you’ve grown tired of your things and you want to make money out of them, sell them to your friends and neighbors.
Newspapers, cardboard and boxes have many uses. Spread newspapers on your floor when painting your wall or ceiling. Boxes can be used when moving to a different house. You can also use them for storing things.
Recycle
Paper is the easiest material to recycle. Save those scratch papers and newspapers in a bag. Make recycled paper. (Learn how to recycle paper)
Leftover foods can be made into a compost. Compost soil is good for growing plants. (Tips on how to make a compost)
It’s never too late to be an environment advocate. The little things you do will go a long way. Like they say, “great things come from small beginnings”. If you’re interested in learning this article, you’ll surely be interested in reading how to get rid of global warming.
