National Flag Hoisting Day of Bangladesh is March 2, 1971. The first national flag was hoisted at Kala Bhaban of Dhaka University. This flag is a symbol of our freedom consciousness. The masses responded on March 2 at the initiative of the then Daksu leaders against the exploitation , injustice , oppression and injustice of the Pakistani ruling class. In fact, it was through the hoisting of the flag that day that the Bengali students and people were aroused by the fire mantra of the freedom struggle and started their journey towards independence. The hoisting of the flag shows that there is no alternative to independent Bangladesh. Student leader A.S.M. hoisted the first national flag in the history of Bangladesh at Battala of Dhaka University. Abdur Rab. He was the Vice President of the Student Union of Dhaka University at that time. After the adjournment of the National Assembly on 2 March 1971, a huge rally was held at Battala of Dhaka University. When ASM Abdur Rob addressed the rally , Nagar Chhatra League leader Sheikh Zahid Hossain tied a flag on a bamboo head and marched towards the stage from Rokeya Hall. Rob then hoisted that flag. The new symbol was created to prevent the use of the East Pakistan symbol Moon Star. According to the CIA World Factbook, the green color of the flag was used to represent the green nature of Bangladesh. The hoisting of this flag conveys the message of the revolution for the rights and entitlements of an exploited and deprived country. Many sacrifices , long bloodshed, the rise of independent sovereign Bangladesh in exchange for blood. This flag is considered as our national flag during the 9 months of freedom struggle. As the session of the National Assembly of Pakistan was adjourned on March 2, people of all walks of life, regardless of party affiliation, took to the streets of Dhaka from the morning , and Dhaka became a city of processions. People of various classes and professions started gathering in the Dhaka University area against the oppression , persecution , exploitation and oppression of the Pakistani ruling class by the initiative of the then Daksu leaders. The fearless student community and the people ignored the bloody eyes of Pakistan and said that the Bengalis would not bow their heads. And today this piece of red-green is the identity of Bangladesh. Our flag has been acquired in exchange for the blood of millions of martyrs. That is why this day is as important as any other important day but not less.
