: In graphite, each carbon atom is sp2 hybridized and each carbon atom is bound to the other three carbon atoms. In this way huge hexagonal lattice is made. Each carbon atom has one unsaturated electron. Graphite is electrically conductive as these electrons are circulating throughout the molecule.
