The full form of CD ROM is Compact Disk Read Only Memory . CDs are currently the most popular portable storage media for computers. CD-ROM is an optical medium. CD is a circular disc with a diameter of 120 mm which is 1.2 mm thick. It has a 15 mm hole in the center. The CD is made of lightweight polycarbonate and metal (aluminum). In order to store data in a CDR, a tiny hole known as Pits is created by emitting a laser beam. A CDROM has a data storage capacity of up to 600 MB. It is easily portable and small in size. A single CD can hold a lot of information , so CDs are used a lot nowadays.
