In this regard, Allah Ta'ala has said in the Holy Qur'an - "... I have sent down to you (the Messenger) the Qur'an , so that you may make clear to the people what has been sent down to them , and so that they may reflect." [Surah Nahl , verse 44] The Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him) little by little for a full 23 years , and the writers of revelation would immediately write it on the bark of trees , on the skins of animals and on stones. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) died , he collected all the Qur'an from Hazrat Abu Bakr (peace be upon him) and left it to Hazrat Hafsa (peace be upon him) after his death. Finally , Hazrat Osman (R) collected the most pure manuscript from Hazrat Hafsa (R) as per the decision of his committee and made 6 more similar copies. Thus the Qur'an is introduced in the form of a book. Moreover , paper , doyat ink, etc. existed in Arabia at that time.
