What are the main factors of river pollution in India? -SST 10th

1 Answer

Answer :

India’s rivers, especially the smaller ones have all turned into toxic streams. Even the big ones like Ganga and Yamuna are far from being pure. The assault on Indian rivers is from the population growth. It increases the pollution in the river and reduces the amount of water available for industries and agriculture. Besides that, other culprits are the modernisation of agriculture, urbanisation and the growth of industries. The chemical fertilisers and the effluents from industries on the river banks are also responsible for its pollution.
