(i) Urbanisation refers to the population shift from rural areas, the gradual increase in the proportion of people living in urban areas, and the ways in which each society adapts to this change. (ii) The main components of urbanisation are : 1. Population pressure and lack of resources in the rural areas are the push factors for urbanization. 2. People migrate to urban areas due to the availability of better standards of living, well-paid jobs, greater opportunities, better health care, and education facilities.
