Care of tulips after they bloom

1 Answer

Answer :

Dont cut the leaves, they feed the bulbs for next year.  I dead head the flowers and bend the leaves down and tie them neatly.  I interplant my spring bulbs with summer perennials so that after the spring bulb show I have Salvia, Bee Balm, Holly Hocks, Foxglove, pinks etc blooming.  The spring crocus, followed by the tulips and lily open the flower season.  The leaves are necessare to feed the bulbs for the next season.  Some of them can just die back.  The Day Lily and Dafodils in large mass I tie up so they don't fall over the other plants.
