Answer :

You can cut your lilac back after the blooms have dried. There are two ways to do this: one is to cut 1/3 of each lilac stem to reduce and strengthen the bush. The bush will bloom next Spring. The other way is to cut the lilac to about 2 feet above ground level. It will take the bush 2 years to come back renewed with beautiful blooms.
