Answer :

No, I would wait for it to be dormant, before you wrap it for winter.  PH should be 6.0-6.5 mulch over root zone will help conserve moisture.  1/lb nitrogen 3 or 4 times a year starting in late winter until mid summer.  for winter make a chicken wire cage and fill with straw or hay, cover with burlap remove in spring after change of hard frost has passed.
