Are there differences in whole hip replacement operations on the East and West coasts, or are they all the same?

1 Answer

Answer :

In all hip replacement surgeries there are similarities and there are differences. Alot depends on the pathology of the hip, the age of the patient, was it a fracture or was it elective, an on and on. It also depends on the technique the surgeon uses. The most widely used techique has been a lateral approach but recently some surgeons have begun using an anterolateral approach. Some replacements are cemented and some are non-cemented. Basically, there is no clear cut answer to your question.
