First of all, do you want your computer to be portable? Do you need to carry it around, for example in a train or in class or at the airport? If so, then get a laptop. Netbooks are small laptops that are good for Internet browsing, but not good for video editing, because their screens are very small. As well, they do not have powerful CPUs, GPUs, and RAM. However, they are relatively cheap. If you want to edit photos and you want something portable, get a laptop. If you don’t want something portable, get a desktop. A desktop will be more powerful than a laptop. I recommend that you get a computer with at least 2 GB of RAM. It would be ideal for you to get one with an Intel CPU and an nVidia GPU because those companies are preferable, but I don’t know what your budget is. Some companies you can buy computers from are Acer, Gateway, Dell, and HP. A printer that works with Macs will probably work with PCs. And to clarify the terminology I used: A CPU is the main part of the computer, like the brain of the computer. CPU stands for Central Processing Unit. A GPU is a processor for graphics (you’ll need a good one if you want to play video games), and RAM stands for Random Access Memory. More RAM will ensure that your computer is faster and that you can perform more tasks at the same time. A better CPU will make your computer faster. Oh and as for Microsoft Office, you can order/buy it as well but it will cost you one hundred dollars or so. As an alternative to this you can use free programs like OpenOffice.org
