The most juicy tidbit I know of is that my paternal great grandfather immigrated illegally from Poland to New York via Mexico, and later got enough money to pay for his wife to ship over. (My mother’s side, my Irish side, has been in the States for many many generations. I hadn’t ever heard any juicy gossip about my ancestors)
