Not watching. Along with my atheism came abillygrahamism. He’s one of those people who will never be seen by anyone as they really were, and less so after death than ever before. I was brought up in evangelicalism and was a faithful listener to “Hour of Decision” on the radio in my teen years. Now I’m probably more cynical than even he deserves. And yet I don’t forget that I have known many honest, sincere, and intelligent true believers. It’s a paradox that I expect to die without resolving. But how many of our putative heroes can withstand any kind of scrutiny at all? And should they? I don’t know the right answer.
