Grammar-based English language instruction teaches as though spoken English is primarily a function of memory. Consequently, grammar-based English lessons emphasizes non-verbal (written) studies of grammar, writing, reading, and listening. All of these activities may increase recall memory for written examinations, but they have little benefit in teaching you to speak fluent English. The only way you can effectively learn spoken English is by using spoken English as the method of instruction. All of your study (including English grammar) should be done by speaking English at full voice volume for the entire study period.
