Gaining a spot at Carnegie Mellon's freshmen class is fiercly competitive! Carnegie Mellon has been ranked about the same with UC Berkeley for the past few years. Also, it has been named as one of the "New Ivy" schools, which are schools that are actually as good as Ivy League schools but don't have the "Ivy" name. According to Collegeboard, the acceptance rate is about 28%, however, acceptance rates tend to be lower for more competitve departments such as School of Computer Science, Carnegie Institute of Technology and Tepper School of Business. SCS's acceptance rate is about 10-12%, CIT 20%, Tepper 18%. How hard is it to get into CMU? SUPER UBER HARD!
