Describe the hydrogen evolution mechanism of immersed corrosion
Steel tank: - Anode
Cu – strip:- Cathode
These types of corrosion occur usually in acidic environments, like industrial waste, solutions of non – oxidizing acids (like HCl).
Process: A steel tank containing acidic industrial waste and small piece of copper scrap in contact with steel. The portion of the steel tank in contact with copper is corroded most with the evolution of hydrogen gas.
