State methods of locating contours and explain any one.

1 Answer

Answer :

Following are the methods of locating contours

1. Direct Method.

2. Indirect method.

 a) By Square / Block Contouring

 b) By Cross Section

 c) Tacheometric Contouring

By Square / Block Contouring

This method is suitable when the area is small and the ground is almost uniform. The whole area is divided into a series of squares and their corners are marked with pegs. The size of square varies from 5m to 20 m, depending upon the surface of ground. Now with the help of level, elevations of the corners of the square are determined. Theses squares are plotted and reduced levels are written at their corners and the contours lines are then interpolated.
