Why should gasoline never be used as a cleaning solvent?

1 Answer

Answer :

I watched a neighbor's house burn to the ground when I was ingrade school, because the father used gasoline as a cleaningsolvent while working on a motorcycle engine. The vapors of thegasoline had spread across the floor, into the walls of thebasement/garage, and found the flame of the pilot light in thewater heater! By the time the fire department arrived the buildingwas so involved that they could do nothing to put the fire out, soall they did was prevent embers from spreading the fire to thebuildings of the neighbors. There are much safer cleaning solvents available, don't be afool like that father was!
