Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an important gas in the earth’s atmosphere and part of the carbon cycle, which allows for plants to photosynthesize and animals to create energy. CO2 absorbs and creates infrared light radiation (which is not normally visible to the human eye) making it a greenhouse gas.
