Wireless mouse and keyboard battery consumption

I bought a wireless mouse and keyboard (yesterday) and a while ago I ran out of batteries. It stopped responding. So I gave another one and it works again. Is this wireless so energy intensive and will I change my flashlights every 2 days? They're kind of there. How often will it last you? That disappointed me :-(
