garden flower bed rock garden ideas please

We would like to make a rock garden with a woman and my wife, but we don't know if it will be rather ugly. What would you recommend? Should I make a rock garden up to the concrete road, or just such an island? Please advise, we can't agree on anything. There is an older rhododendron bush on the right side and a sakura on the right. We would like to sort it out. Your opinion? Shrubs or something and sprinkle with bark or gravel. I will be happy for any advice.

Well, the rock garden is probably in the middle of the garden , the rock is not a stone, it should not be low, on the contrary, and having a hill in the middle of the garden would probably not be very nice ...
